Bedroom's only function is sleep. As a child, he wanted a big bedroom for decorative purposes, but now his bedroom is functionally singular, since he has the rest of the apartment for such purpose.
Dorm felt like a temporary space, and didn't bridge a connective affect. Temporality affected affinity.
